#1. Never give up
Remember, the darkest time of night is just before dawn.
Quitting from something you believed in simply because some people have discouraged you, is a futile attempt to run away from yourself.
Giving up just before you see the end of a thing is like aborting a baby simply because you fear that the baby will die of hunger. It’s like escaping from your own shadow.
The regret of quitting is far more painful, and will haunt you for the rest of your life for not staying on and seeing the end.
#2. Believe in Yourself
I know… you’ve heard this so many times. That means it’s true.
Believing in yourself means trusting in your abilities. It implies thinking that you CAN do something if you put your mind to it. You can overcome self-doubt and have the confidence to take action and get things done when you believe in yourself.
Life has no limitations, except the ones you make for yourself. Never compare yourself to anyone except your previous self.
The way you treat yourself is the way you will treat others, and the way you treat others is what you become.
Ironically, if you believe and love yourself, others have no choice but to believe in you.
#3. Don’t Chase Money
Society has placed a high value on money, which has become a curse.
Without it you’re regarded as a nobody. With a lot of it, you’re worshipped. That’s when the curse of greed takes over.
Of course, money simplifies life and alleviates a lot of problems, pain, and suffering. The problem comes when greed has taken over, and you can no longer get satisfied.
Money is good if you master it. Money is a curse if it controls your life.
The easiest way to fail is to chase money, and the easiest way to succeed is to chase a passion to change your life for the better. It’s not always easy because you need money in the first place, to buy what you want.
However, set your priorities right, be patient, and you will still get there no matter how long it takes.
Money follows when you’re passionate about what you do, and follow it to the very end.
#4. Success is Not a Destination
Contrary to what most people think, success is a journey, not a destination, according to a life rule. It indicates that what matters is not where you are at the end, but what you accomplish while attempting to get there. It implies that if you work hard enough, you will never fail.
Most people get it wrong, that success is achieving a desired destination. However, success has nothing to do with that.
Success is a daily habit. Once your daily habits change, achieving anything you desire becomes a walk in the park because you have already WIRED yourself for success.
#5. Success is Discipline
"With self-discipline, virtually anything is achievable," —Theodore Roosevelt.
Self-discipline is widely regarded as one of the most important aspects of success. Self-discipline is often associated with determination and courage. With self-discipline, almost anything is possible.
You daily habits should match your discipline. Once you’re able to achieve this, the next thing that comes to you is the achievement you’ve been fighting for.
Self-discipline is the single most critical factor in achieving success. It helps you stay focused on your goals, provides you the courage to persevere through challenging activities, and allows you to overcome barriers and suffering as you strive for new heights.
#6. Follow the 80/20 Rule
The 80/20 rule (also known as the Pareto principle) is a phenomenon that states that roughly 80% of outcomes come from 20% of causes.
Named after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed the 80/20 phenomenon while at the University of Lausanne in 1896, it is a principle that can apply in almost all disciplines of life. In business management for example, 80% of sales come from 20% of clients.
In his first work, Cours d'économie politique, Pareto demonstrated that around 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.
In education, 80% of achievement comes from 20% of the effort.
80% of a company's output is produced by 20% of its workers.
80% of social media shares are by 20% of posts.
80% of software glitches are caused by 20% of bugs.
80% of search visits involve 20% of keywords.
80% of your success comes from 20% of your ideas.
The principle can be applied anywhere even in learning. You apply the principle to learn something faster, complete reading a book faster, and even fast-track your own success.
#7. Do the Right Thing
In this fast-paced world, there are a million things you can do, but not all of them are good for you. Therefore do not waste your valuable time feeling jealous and chasing other people’s dreams, which you know very well, are not good for you.
Find that which is good for you and pursue that to the brutal end and you will surely see the results. You will be happier than millions of people who are chasing the wind and copying what other people are doing.
Be honest with yourself and with other people and do not engage yourself in scams or illegal deals. It will come firing right back at you. Always deal with people you can trust.
#8. Know Your True Calling
The happiest people in the world are the ones who spend more time discovering themselves. That everyone is unique in their own way is no secret. Everyone is good at something or knows something other people don’t have a clue.
We’re here to compliment each other. One person knows math, but another person has no clue about what algebra is all about. One person is a scientist, but knows nothing about acting or writing a poem.
One person completely failed in class, but in real life, they’re really good at making money.
If you want to be happy, find out what it is that you’re really good at and stick with that.
#9. Success can be Modelled
The fasted way to achieve success is to find someone who is more successful and model their success. Don’t copy. Just model their success.
Study biographies of successful people. Learn their habits. Learn how they were able to deal with challenges. Everyone goes through challenges.
If you’re currently going through challenges, don’t stop in the middle. Continue until the end. The greater the challenge, the greater the glory.
My favorite pastime is to watch YouTube interviews of successful people. I can watch them for hours, until I start feeling like them.
#10. The Greatest Secret of Success
Looking for the greatest secret of success?
Well, there’s no secret. The greatest secret of success is to take advantage of an opportunity without hesitation.
The greatest enemy of success is procrastination. Time is money and once it’s gone, it’s gone. You cannot recover it.
“Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen.”
