What Is Freelancing And Copywriting

Freelancing and copywriting are related concepts that can sometimes overlap, but they are not the same thing.

Let me explain the key differences between freelancing and copywriting.

Freelancing: Freelancing refers to working independently and offering services to clients on a project basis. A freelancer is typically self-employed and provides services to multiple clients, often in different industries or niches. Freelancers have the freedom to choose their clients, set their own rates, and manage their own workload. They may offer a wide range of services, such as writing, graphic design, web development, social media management, and more.

Copywriting: Copywriting specifically refers to the practice of writing persuasive and engaging content with the purpose of promoting a product, service, or brand. Copywriters are skilled in crafting written content that is designed to attract and engage readers, and ultimately persuade them to take a desired action, such as making a purchase or signing up for a newsletter. Copywriters often work in the marketing and advertising industry and create content for various platforms, such as websites, landing pages, sales letters, email campaigns, and social media ads.

In essence, copywriting is a specialized skill within the broader field of freelancing. While freelancers may offer copywriting services as part of their overall service offerings, copywriters specifically focus on creating persuasive and effective content to drive specific outcomes, whereas freelancers may offer a wider range of services beyond just copywriting.

It's also worth noting that while copywriting is a form of writing, not all freelancers are copywriters, and not all copywriters are freelancers. Some copywriters may work as employees of marketing agencies, while some freelancers may offer services beyond copywriting, such as design, development, or consulting. The key is to understand that while there may be overlap, freelancing and copywriting are distinct concepts with their own unique characteristics and areas of expertise.

Make Your Plan A, B, Or C Now (Early Advice)

Too many young people are getting stuck 2-5yrs after graduation cos they started in jobs they don't like or that they consider lower than their potential. As someone who changed careers thrice before settling in, I can relate. If this is you, please read this Plan A-C.

Plan A - Your current job. Pays your bills (except you have legacy money or other sources). Work hard and be the very best at it. Seek ways to cross from your role that you don't like to a function that you like within the company.

Learn the skills online or through mentorship and volunteer to support those in those roles. And the only way to get considered for a switch is to first ensure you are a star at your role and the company sees your value. Don't be a pollutant or share bad energy because you don't like the job. No one remembers your likeness or otherwise for the job, but everyone remembers the energy you brought to them.

Plan B - Stay awake at night or dedicate at least 2hrs a day reading, learning & applying for roles that match what you really want or desire. Don't be complacent or get comfortable. Comfort is easy once you start earning. Be hungry and shameless in your hunger.

Send that DM. Send that mail. And you may even get options for experienced hire roles in this career that you don't like. Never be afraid to start again in another company. You have to decide very quickly before it gets too late to start again. Else, you'll still be on the job 10yrs later, unhappy and complaining as you did in year 1. It's pointless spending your entire day working for a job you don't enjoy.

Pay cuts are easier to absorb when you're less than 30yrs old. The younger the better. I restarted my career 3times by age 26 yet made Manager at 29 & SM at 32. Cos all the experiences built up and counted.

Plan C: This is your fallback plan. If everything else fails, what will happen? This is your plan C. Save as if your life depends on it. You can start a side hustle (preferably in the line you desire) & grow it into a business.

Many great founders & companies were built as side hustles. Start a startup or company as a side hustle even from NYSC year. Nike shoes was founded as a side hustle and countless other examples. You can go back to school (preferably abroad).

Activate your japa plans or other things. But those decisions become easier as you save more. This is why its easier for those from rich homes to make these decisions.

Cos their needs are covered with funds. So don't compare yourself. Plan as if your life depends on it, because it really does.

What Is SEO or Search Engine Optimization

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a vital aspect of digital marketing, which helps improve website ranking on search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. In simpler terms, SEO refers to the process of optimizing website content and structure to ensure that search engines understand what the website is about and rank it higher in search results for relevant keywords.

SEO has become an essential part of digital marketing in recent years because most users rely on search engines to find information and products online. In fact, over 93% of all online experiences start with a search engine. Therefore, businesses need to ensure their websites are visible and rank well on search engines to attract potential customers.

There are two main types of SEO: on-page SEO and off-page SEO.

On-Page SEO

On-page SEO refers to the optimization of the website itself. It involves optimizing the content, headlines, images, and structure of the website to make it easier for search engines to understand what the website is about. On-page SEO also includes optimizing meta tags, titles, and descriptions, which are used to display snippets of information about the website on search engine result pages (SERPs).

Off-Page SEO

Off-page SEO, on the other hand, refers to the optimization of external factors that affect the website's ranking, such as backlinks and social media signals. Backlinks are links from other websites that point to the website, and they are a crucial factor in determining a website's authority and relevance. Social media signals, such as likes, shares, and comments, also play a role in off-page SEO as they indicate the popularity and relevance of the website.

To improve the ranking of a website, SEO professionals use a variety of techniques, such as keyword research, content optimization, link building, and social media marketing. Keyword research involves identifying the keywords and phrases that users are searching for and optimizing website content around those keywords. Content optimization involves creating high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that meets the user's search intent.

Link Building

Link building involves acquiring backlinks from other websites through various methods, such as guest posting, broken link building, and outreach. Social media marketing involves promoting the website on social media platforms to increase its visibility and attract more traffic.

SEO is crucial for businesses of all sizes and industries as it helps increase visibility, attract more traffic, and improve the user experience. However, it's important to note that SEO is a long-term strategy, and results may take time to show. It's also essential to keep up with the latest trends and best practices in SEO as search engine algorithms are constantly changing.

SEO is a constantly evolving field, and it's important to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques to ensure your website stays competitive in search rankings. One of the most significant changes in recent years has been the increasing importance of mobile optimization. With more and more users accessing the internet through mobile devices, search engines like Google have prioritized mobile-friendly websites in their search results.

Another important aspect of SEO is local optimization. This involves optimizing your website and content to rank higher for local searches. For example, if you run a bakery in New York, you would want to ensure that your website ranks well for searches like "bakery in New York" or "best cakes in New York." This can be achieved through techniques like including your business's address and phone number on your website and building local citations.

Technical SEO is another important area to focus on. This involves optimizing the technical aspects of your website, such as site speed, URL structure, and XML sitemap, to ensure that search engines can crawl and index your website easily. Technical SEO can be a complex and technical area, so it's important to work with a skilled SEO professional to ensure your website is optimized properly.

One thing to keep in mind when implementing SEO is that it's not a one-time task, but an ongoing process. Search engines are constantly updating their algorithms, and your competitors are always working to improve their SEO as well. Therefore, it's important to continually monitor your website's performance and adjust your SEO strategy as needed.

While SEO can take time and effort to implement, the benefits can be significant. By ranking higher in search results, you can attract more organic traffic to your website, which can lead to increased conversions and revenue. SEO is also a cost-effective way to promote your business, as it can help reduce your reliance on paid advertising.

In conclusion, SEO is a critical component of any digital marketing strategy. It involves optimizing your website and content to improve your visibility and ranking on search engines. By focusing on areas like on-page and off-page optimization, local optimization, technical SEO, and mobile optimization, you can improve your website's ranking and attract more traffic and customers to your business. Remember to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques in SEO to ensure your website stays competitive in search rankings.
