6 Easy Ways To Reduce Global Warming

You don't need an environmental advocate to tell you that the earth is shouting for help.

Just by looking at your surroundings, you'll realize that the earth is in great disarray and needs a bit of uplifting from its inhabitants.

Global warming is one of the earth's biggest problems right now.

If you think you can't help solve this problem, you're wrong.

With your little environment-conscious acts, you'll be able to lessen this problem.

Here are a few easy tips you can follow to participate in the fight against global warming.

1.    Make your place green.

Plant trees on your backyard or front lawn.

If you don't have enough space, join environmental organizations and take part in their tree planting activities.

Trees are important because they help absorb carbon dioxide. They also give off oxygen, which is very important in sustaining of health.

Trees are also natural air coolers. If your house is surrounded with trees, the air around you will be much cooler. You won't be needing air conditioners on hot days.

2.    Drive less often.

Conserve gas by driving less often. If you're not going too far, you can walk or use a bike. Walking and biking are good exercises for you.

You are not only helping the environment but you are also keeping yourself stay fit. Be friends with your neighbors, office mates and schoolmates.

Discover the beauty and practicality of car pooling. Have a schedule so each one of you gets the turn of driving the others on certain days of the week.

You are not only saving gas, you are also saving money and lessening your expenses.

3.    Don't use plastics.

Plastics are non-biodegradable. While some people recycle plastics, others just throw them away. Avoid using plastic.

It is not environment-friendly. If you're planning to go shopping, it's always a good idea to bring a big bag with you where you can put the things that you'll buy.

This way, you won't need to get the plastic from the store. Also, it's better to use reusable items like mugs, cups, plates, spoons and forks. Bring your own mug in the office so you don't have to use disposable cups and mugs.

4.    Save and recycle paper.

Paper is made out from trees. When you save and recycle paper, you are also saving trees. Learn how to recycle paper and recycle your used paper at home and in the office.

Don't discard a paper immediately. Make sure that you use both of its side before discarding it. Receipts, bills and newsletters can be recycled. Don't throw them in the trash bin immediately.

5.    Eat vegetables.

Manufacturing meats use more energy than planting vegetables. Vegetables are good for you.

You can start your own vegetable garden on your own backyard and you won't have to go to the grocery for veggies.

This mean less consumption of gas going to the store and avoidance of using plastic as containers for the things you bought.

6.    Use your hands.

Save on electricity by using your hands. You can easily wash your dirty dishes on the sink and with a scrubber.

You don't need to use the dishwasher all the time. Use grass scissors instead of a lawn mower if the area that you're going to clear is not that big.

Also, open your windows so fresh air can get in instead of using electric fans and air conditioners.

How To Address Global Warming Through Waste Management

Solid waste is not always an issue we all want to talk about.

But now, as the growing concern for the environmental protection is at its highest, we all need to delay throwing our water bottles a bit longer and think what we are doing to our only earth.

Waste and Global Warming

The amount of greenhouse gases released by a certain product depends on its life cycle.

For example, all manufactured products, from plastic cups to automobiles, require energy to produce.

This energy is drawn from fossil fuel, which produces greenhouse gases.

Even the use of these products can contribute to carbon emissions.

The higher demand for products, the more energy it requires to produce them.

Waste Disposal and Global Warming

The more waste we generate, the more waste we need to dispose of.  Some methods of waste disposal consume fossil fuel and produce greenhouse gases.

For example, wastes that are dumped in landfills release pollutants and known greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane.

Incinerating waste also consumes energy. Incineration is the second most used method in disposing waste worldwide.

If the method is not very efficient, pollutants from burning mix with the air and can contribute to global warming.

Modern incinerating facilities, however, are more sophisticated that they lessen the consumption of fossil fuel to run incinerating machines and reduce the amounts of pollutants the process produces.

Addressing Waste Issue

Consuming less has always been the best way to reduce carbon emission. Reduction of demand for different products eases the burden to our planet as less production means less greenhouse gases emission and less waste to manage.

Promoting this can help solve waste problem.

Most wastes can be avoided. This is because a large portion of waste we consume are disposable items, mainly plastic water bottles, plastic bags, food containers, and tin cans.

The issue whether or not we should still use these disposables has been debated, but we can now see initiatives to reduce the use of such products and go back to using reusable items.

We too can help. By simple bringing reusable water bottle help reduce the demand for plastic water bottles, at least one bottle a day.

By now, just about every suburban community has a place for their refuse and recycling.

All you need to do is to drive down to yours and leave it there so that recycling plants can take over (or have it collected for you, if the service is available).

There, you may find a neatly set-up areas for yard-trimmings, plastics, glass, cardboard, paper, tires, oils, toxic wastes, etc so you need to learn how to segregate first.

This is actually quite easy to do. You just have to keep different items separated and you are good to go.

The best thing about waste segregation is that all recyclables can be used to manufacture new products, which help reduce the demand for harnessing natural resources.

Reduce, reuse, recycle… these are just what we have to remember when you seriously want to help in helping our environment and solve global warming.

Collectively, we can do something about this pressing issue.
