10 Shared Ideas To Start Your Own Business

1. Do nothing, go get some fresh air
Creativity rarely happens in meeting rooms. I have had my best ideas kite-surfing, running, biking or simply hanging out with my family. Being a workaholic locked in your office won't help much. Go out and do something new.

2. Don’t look for the idea of your life or a revolutionary one
When Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia founded AirBNB, they had no idea it would become the largest as\threat to the hotel industry with 250,000 rooms in 30,000 cities.

All they wanted was to make some quick cash to help pay their rent and decided to rent an extra room. There is no way of knowing what will be revolutionary until the first users start to love it and tell their friends.

3. Focus on passion instead of revenue and profit
I have launched 6 startups and the most successful one is the only one that I did not even think would be a real business when I started it. My conference LeWeb gathered last year 5,000 entrepreneurs from 80 Countries in Paris and London.

It’s a great business and just got acquired by Reed Exhibitions. When I launched it with my wife Geraldine all I wanted to do was to help entrepreneurs in Europe by bringing them a platform for success, help them find ideas, investors and key partnerships.

Most entrepreneurs in Europe focus too much on their own Country and language so we made it international and all in English from day one. We launched LeWeb at the French Senate who gave us the free venue. Telling them it was in English only did not come to my mind.

A representative from the Presidency of the French Senate showed up as we started and asked me “Oh your event is in English, you obviously have French translation, right?” Me: “no, why? We want to help entrepreneurs go international and if they don’t speak English they should not join”. Him: “Well by French law we cannot let a conference happen at the Senate without French translation.”

That was the first controversy and of course, we kept going and got lots of press thanks to this unexpected advertising. The second controversy was that we forgot to bring coffee (and croissants) to those who traveled from so many countries to join. But it did not matter. Passion and content was there and LeWeb doubled in size when we did the next one.

4. Your idea won’t be what you thought it would be anyway
My friend Niklas Zennstrom, founder of Skype, created it thinking it would be a wifi sharing software and had no idea it would become the most popular voice over IP communication app ever.

5. Learn from your friends doing interesting things
While I still enjoy creating the LeWeb program and content, I’m looking for my next business idea these days but I don’t rush it. It will come when it will come. The best way I found to ignite creativity is to go meet friends doing interesting and different things than yours.

Go and visit them, have lunch with them, ask them if you can help. If you have more time offer them to spend a day or a week helping them. Something will come out of it. I’m doing exactly this and something always comes out of it for both of us in the end.

6. Don’t listen to the naysayers
Most people resist change and will always focus on why you will fail. It’s natural and human. That’s why those people don’t create a business ever. Arguably the most successful entrepreneur in France these days, Xavier Niel, just launched a school to learn coding called 42. Developers are the most in demand resource and the fastest career to find a job if you’re young.

If countries focused more on training developers they would have less troubles with unemployment for sure. Well, I have been reading lots of criticism on why Xavier will fail. As always, Xavier does it differently, he doesn’t care about the diploma but much more about the job the young developers will land in the end. So the establishment doesn’t like it and criticizes him. Xavier has revolutionized the telecom industry in France and became a billionaire by not listening to anyone who says he will fail. Yes, the French have a word for entrepreneurs.

7. Share it with your friends
I’m also a business angel and I’m regularly getting pitched. Many emails ask for an NDA before they explain their revolutionary idea. Well, asking this is a sure way for me to archive immediately the email. The only way to protect your idea is to execute it fast.

The only way to get feedback on your idea and improve it is to share it. Protect too much and for sure, someone else will succeed with your idea. In fact it’s probably already happening somewhere. I generally even share it on social networks before I even start working on it. That way I know if it gets traction or not.

8. Eat your own dog food
I rarely invest my time or money in products I don’t use. If it’s going to be your next business you’d better live and breathe it all day long. You should use it, love it and be obsessed on how to improve it.

Focusing on your own passions or products you love yourself is a good start. Of course the founders of 1-800-get-junk are probably not obsessed and in love with their trash but they probably got the idea because they had the problem themselves.

9. It does not have to be big to succeed
You’re ambitious, fantastic, you should be. You want to make millions and go public? That’s okay and will probably help you work like crazy and have that extra motivation entrepreneurs need.

Mind you, it’s not about money though. None of my friends who succeeded have been focused on money, they are focused on passion, value and customer happiness.

Read “Rework” by Jason Fried of 37signals, it will help you understand that if you pick a niche you love you need very few customers to be happy and succeed. No need to go public and go big. That reminds me I have to read it again.

10. “If you are not ashamed of your product when you launched, you launched too late”
That’s Reid Hoffman, founder of LinkedIn, saying that you’d better get your product out as soon as possible.

Launching fast will help you form a community of users that will give you good feedback to iterate from. Listen to them and build the product they need. It will also help you get established as the leader in the space you’re launching just because you’re doing it and the World can see it. Be ashamed. Launch. Improve.

DO things and stop thinking about them. It’s ok if you fail. Go make mistakes. I make mistakes and fail every day and I ignore everybody. I’m having huge fun doing it and sometimes I even create things that work and people love. It doesn’t matter when I fail, I will succeed next time. What’s the best way for you to get new ideas? Kindly share below. Have a nice day.

7 Basic Steps To Top 10 Rankings On Google

If you have any problems with getting high rankings or if you lost them after the Penguin update, make sure to carefully read this article and follow all advice given to get in the Top 10 on Google.

We have analyzed hundreds of our clients' websites and their SEO strategies of achieving #1 on Google for the past 6 months and noticed that some of our clients have great results... whereas others don't.

So we aimed at revealing the most important reasons WHY some people cannot succeed to get ranked in Google Top 10 and what you need to do to successfully achieve that goal.

Note: it's vital to follow each of the following below 7 steps. Ignoring even just one of them may result in failure to be ranked Top 10 on Google.

1. Choose keywords.

Choose keywords for your link building campaign which can bring traffic, but which are not too competitive and you can afford. Learn how to select the best keywords for your link building campaign.

2. Get high quality text backlinks from relevant websites.

The quality of backlinks is much more important than quantity. There are numerous of cases when lower number of backlinks yields much higher ranking boost on Google than higher number of links with lower quality.

And after the Google Penguin update, quality became even more important than quantity. So focus on high quality, text backlinks, coming from relevant webpages with PR1 and higher PR. Please note that PageRank has become not as important as it was before. Relevancy is now far, far more important than PR.

Even PR1 link from relevant webpage can improve your site rankings much better than PR7 link from an irrelevant website. Moreover, unrelated backlinks can even lower your site rankings.

So focus on getting only relevant backlinks to your website. If you already have unrelated backlinks going to your site, you'd better remove them and acquire relevant links instead.

3. Get backlinks with different anchor texts.

We have noticed that one of the most common (and extremely harmful) SEO mistakes many people make is ignoring this rule.

Our own analysis, as well as SEOmoz's research has shown that people who follow the anchor text distribution formula (shown below) have successfully got in the Top 10 on Google and were progressing in the SERPs even after the Penguin update.

Others who ignored this rule failed to get high rankings.

Google is constantly working on improving its algorithms and in the end of March 2012, Google launched the critical Penguin update.

After this update a great number of websites throughout the entire Internet lost their rankings.

The most important reason why rankings have dropped after this update was unnatural keyword (anchor text) distribution in the backlinks.

SEOMoz has conducted deep research trying to find out what was the most natural "keyword distribution formula" that SEOs must follow to have high rankings on Google.

They took websites with high and low rankings on Google and compared their anchor text distribution.

The results of the research has clearly shown that websites with high rankings had the following keyword distribution:

Natural Anchor Text Distribution Formula After Google Penguin Update
Natural Anchor Text Distribution
Check out the SEOmoz case study which proves this graph is not just real, but is vital to keep in mind.

(During our own analysis we've also came to very similar percentages which are given by SEOmoz.)

Because of this, we suggest you build backlinks to your website with the following breakdown of your anchor texts:
Natural Keyword Distribution
For example: if your domain name is www.bwidgets.com and your main targeted keyword for which you want to rank #1 on Google is blue widgets, then only 18% of your backlinks should have the exact keyword match (i.e. blue widgets), 17% of your anchors should include your exact keyword (for example, buy best blue widgets, blue widgets online, etc), 31% of your backlinks should go as your brand name (bwidgets), 18% of your anchors should go as your website URL (www.bwidgets.com) and the rest 16% of your anchor texts should include such keywords as click here, see details, learn more, etc.

We understand how psychologically difficult it may be for you to start getting backlinks for such keywords as "click here" or even just for a brand name of your business or domain name of your website, and that's why we encourage you to read this SEOmoz case study which proves that this is not a "may follow," but is a "MUST FOLLOW" SEO rule to get high rankings on Google.

If your current anchor text distribution doesn't coincide with the aforementioned, but there are not too many such links, so don't even bother removing them - just build new links with those anchors you don't currently have enough.

This way, when new links are built, your new anchor text distribution becomes natural.

4. Get backlinks from pages with various PR.

There was a lot of discussion about the naturalness of the link building campaigns. And much more will be said. In this view, the diversity of PR of your links comes to the foreground.

You should understand that only high PR or low PR links in your backlink profile seem suspicious to Google.

That's why your backlinks have to come from web pages with different PR. Moreover, most of your links should come from PR0 and PR1 pages to look natural for Google. Only around 5% of your links should come from high PR pages with PR4 and higher.

If your current backlink profile doesn't correspond to this recommendation, don't remove existing links - it's better to just build new ones with those PageRanks you don't have enough of for your link profile to start looking natural to Google.

Natural PageRank Distribution Formula
Google PR of the
Backlink Page
Quantity of Backlinks
PR0 ~36%
PR1 ~30%
PR2 ~15%
PR3 ~10%
PR4 ~5%
PR5 ~3%
PR6-PR10 ~1%

5. Purchase links gradually.

Don't buy a lot of links the same day - especially if they have high PR! You should get backlinks for your website in a way that looks natural to Google, i.e. how people on the Internet would most likely link to your website.

For example, if your current website PR is PR3-PR4 (we took average PR on the Internet to write this example), we recommend you to use the following link building plan:
  • Start by purchasing 3 relevant backlinks a week with just PR1-PR2. Buy more links with PR1 and less with PR2. Buy such links during the first 3-4 weeks.
  • Only then add a few PR3 backlinks to your backlink profile. And they also must be relevant to your website.
  • Continue getting 3-5 PR1-PR2 and a few PR3 links a week during 1 more month.
  • After only 2 months after your link building campaign initiation it will be safe to acquire a few PR4 backlinks.
  • In 1 more month it will be safe to get several PR5 or PR6 backlinks.
  • And in just 1 more month it will be safe to get 1 or 2 PR7 or higher PR links.
It is not safe to buy high PR links (PR4 and higher) if your website has low number of PR1-PR3 backlinks in its backlink profile.

That's why at first you should always buy/build low PR links; only after that should you acquire high PR links.

And remember, you should try to get high PR links with PR4 and higher ONLY if they are relevant to your business.

Getting PR4+ backlinks is not a MUST for getting high rankings on Google, whereas getting relevant backlinks is.

If you cannot get relevant high PR links to your website, it's not a problem at all; focus on getting low PR, but relevant links.

In fact, it is much easier (and cheaper) to get in the Top 10 by acquiring only PR1-PR3 backlinks that come from relevant pages when compared with acquiring PR4-PR6 backlinks coming from unrelated webpages.

After the Google Penguin update you can actually forget about the PR of the page and just focus on getting relevant PR1-PR3 backlinks.

Following such a strategy will make your link building campaign look more natural to Google and bring you to the 1st page of Google sooner than if you were purchasing PR4-PR6 backlinks; this is because it takes longer for high PR links to pass their PR Weight to your website.

6. Be patient.

There are several reasons why SEO and achieving #1 on Google takes time and why you need to be patient:
  1. You should know that NOT all link juice (PR Weight) is passed to your website at once after the link is built. In fact, for most links it will take up to 6 months for the PR Weight to be passed to your website for 100%. Learn more about PR Weight Flow.
  2. The more competitive your keywords are, the more time it is necessary for you to get ranked on Google. It can take from 1 to 3 months for very low competitive keywords, from 3 to 6 months for middle competitive terms, and from 6 to 9 or even 12 months for high competitive keyword phrases. Most LinksManagement customers achieve the Top 10 rankings on Google on average within 3 to 6 months.
  3. Google has developed its algorithms so that it is now using psychological pressure - when you get new backlinks, at first your rankings drop down, and only with some time they come back and get higher than they were before. Our clients as well as experts at SEOmoz noticed this too. Google actually says about this in their own patent 8,244,722.
  4. So when your rankings start to dance (drop down, improve, again drop down and again improve, etc), it means that everything is going fine. Just stick to your natural link building plan and with some time your situation will become more stable for old keywords (for which you've got many old backlinks).
  5. You cannot (at least should NOT) buy all backlinks that you need to outrank your competition within just 1 day or even 1 month. In order to look natural, your link building campaign should be gradual and you should buy new links gradually, on a weekly basis.
  6. Remember that your competition may be doing some activities as well. So once again, be patient.

7. Get rid of all the duplicated content.

It is not just advice. It's a sharp necessity! After the Panda 3.6 update having been launched by Google there is no way for the sites with duplicated content to be in Google Top 10.

So, pay attention to the quality of your site content because the importance of this factor grows up from day to day. There are numerous content duplicate checker tools, which may help you find and get rid of all the duplicate content. Have a nice day.

11 Ways To Charge Up Your Twitter Following !

So you’ve made a start on Twitter and you are beginning to see your followers grow into dozens, hundreds or maybe even a few thousand. So what’s next? Do you want to accept that you will get a steady growth or do you want to supercharge your following?
Before you read on, am I even qualified to give you advice? Well, in just three months, I have built a personal Twitter following of more than 28,000 and I am not a celebrity nor do I have an army of professionals working on my social media strategy! I was a complete beginner when I started. These are the lessons I learned. One more thing. This is a long blog so I’ve organized it into small bites that you can jump to. You don’t have to consume the whole thing in one go or in any particular order!
1. How do you introduce yourself?
The first time someone sees you on Twitter, they read your profile.

It’s your, “Hello!” to the world. If it’s blank then I guess you have nothing to say about yourself and we will all say, “Bye!” It’s like going to a party and standing in the corner with a blank look on your face. And if you say in your profile that you hate everyone and never follow-back then I guess you don’t want followers and prefer to live in a world of total isolation. Make your profile interesting, humorous, quirky. Be an individual that you would want to follow. Consider this profile example:
I am a normal person and I live my life a day at a time
Or this:
I live three days in every 24 hours. If you think you can keep up, come along with me for the ride…
Which one do you want to follow? And your picture matters! If you have a picture of a gun pointing at me or your hand giving me the finger, I would also suggest that is not the friendliest way to say hello. And forget the egg.
2. What are you tweeting?
I’m not going to say much about this here because I’ve already covered this crucial issue in my first blog - Is Anyone Listening To Me? But this is the essence: you need to tweet something that is interesting and relevant to your audience.
If you are bored when you read your own tweets, so are we! Look at who you follow and why you read their tweets.
The most popular non-celebrity tweet subjects are humor, news, sports and philosophy. Check out happy place for examples of the latest popular tweets. Shorter tweets get noticed in Twitter!
Also, if someone wants to add something to your tweet and retweet it, they have spare characters to do this in. Here’s a short tweet of mine that was retweeted to almost a million people:
Death waits for all of us. So does life
And here is an example of how it was retweeted (and stayed within 140 characters):
I needed to hear that! RT “@OneJohnMitchell: Death waits for all of us. So does life”
Tweet, tweet, tweet
It’s called Twitter for a reason. Birds make a lot of noise! If you are really serious about followers, you need to tweet at least five times a day and preferably 10-20 times a day.
And remember that you will have followers in different time zones. If you don’t want to be online 24 hours a day, schedule your tweets in advance using apps such as TweetDeck. And spend time writing tweets before they are needed and save them so that you don’t feel constantly pressured to write something every hour of the day!
3. Interact with your followers
It is disheartening if someone follows you and constantly retweets you and you never give them any recognition. Give them a Shoutout or a Follow request. Thank them for being great followers – describe them as a “rock star” or a “poet” or anything else that works with your community. Reply to tweets that are addressed to you so that your followers can see that you interact with them.
As your following builds, use #FF (Follow Friday) and #SO (Shoutout) as a favor to people. Do it for those who do the same for you. Occasionally, tweet an offer to do a #SO for someone.
However, I tend not to do these for followers who bluntly say, “Give me a shoutout!” A shoutout or follow request is a gift. Use them sparingly.
And don’t become a mouthpiece for every new band, charity cause or sympathy case.
You are a personal brand and your Twitter will become a valuable channel that needs to be protected from message-dilution and junk.
4. Follow-back everyone!
This one is controversial and not everyone will agree with me! Should you follow-back everyone who follows you?
Let me put it this way, when you follow someone, you probably are hoping that they will follow you back. Right? Personally, I dislike those people who have huge followings and follow almost no-one.

The only exception I make is for people whose tweets I think are great for some reason. So, my advice is to follow-back everyone (except spammers, sex chat lines and undesirables). That way, you will get unfollowed a whole lot less.

Watch out for people who follow you, you follow them back and then they unfollow you. It’s very common. So, run an app to monitor who you are following who is not following you back.
5. Who are you following?
Once you start following a lot of tweeps, your timeline will get very busy and will become difficult or at times impossible to read.

This is where Lists come in. Lists are a standard feature of Twitter and allow you to create groups of tweeps in whatever categories you choose. I have a List of tweeps for whom I want to see every one of their tweets.

Then, you can use apps such as TweetDeck (desktop) or TweetBot (mobile) to organize multiple timelines.

TweetDeck also has a filter feature that finds tweets that contain certain keywords, hashtags and phrases.

Now that you can actually read the tweets of the people you care about, remember to retweet them regularly.

You can also use an app to retweet everything that a particular user tweets. Some of my followers do this. But there is the obvious caution that these apps are not reading what you are retweeting so you could end up with an embarrassing retweet!
6. #Hashtags
People use hashtags to tag their tweets so that others can search on them and find them. And anyone can create a hashtag.

That’s about it. Some people argue that every one of your tweets should have a hashtag in it. I’m skeptical. Here’s one of my tweets with a hashtag:

Just because there is a song in your heart does not mean it should come out of your mouth #TheXFactor

This was retweeted by my followers but I didn’t get any new followers who were following The X Factor hashtag. The reason? Take a look at http://twubs.com and follow the #TheXFactor hashtag during the live airing of the show.

You can’t even read the tweets at the rate they are flying by. But clever use of hashtags can help to build followers. Always check out the traffic for the hashtag on twubs.com before using it. So, my advice is to use hashtags that are relevant to your followers.
8. Follow to get followed back
One way to get followers is to follow first and wait to be followed-back. I mentioned this in my first blog. If you target individual people who have something very clear about why they would follow you, then you will usually get a high follow-back rate.

For instance, a writer who follows other writers of similar genres will usually get followed back.

I have also found a high follow-back rate by following the users that Twitter suggests are “similar” to me.

Although, once you have thousands of followers, these suggestions become less and less accurate.

But a more aggressive strategy to get followers is to create “follow lists” by searching user profiles or the followers of another person and creating a follow list.

Then you follow them and wait. You can use an app to do the searches and create the follow lists and to automate the follows.

By my experience, you will only get about a 5% follow-back rate with this strategy, depending on a number of factors.

Your profile needs to be instantly compelling and your recent tweets need to be interesting and relevant. And you must follow relevant tweeps.

Twitter will only let you follow up to 1,000 people per day. This is precisely to prevent you from randomly following thousands of tweeps to try to build your own followers.

And Twitter will suspend your account if you aggressively follow hundreds of users at a time just to get follow-backs, whether or not you reach the daily limit.
9. Promoting yourself
There are several ways to promote your Twitter. They mostly involve spending money or time or both. Let’s look at a few:

• Facebook: you can integrate your Twitter with Facebook.

However, I strongly advise against having your tweets posted to your timeline as your friends will not appreciate getting a Facebook update every time you tweet. It also leads to a highly fragmented timeline of words and no photos.

If you use Facebook Pages for your business, then create an app on one of your tabs and have your Twitter visible by clicking the tab.

• Blogs: most of the blogging sites include the ability to show your recent tweets and to tweet your blog (this will tweet your blog title and an abbreviated URL link).

Blogs drive traffic but the person who views your blog will rarely be interested in following your tweets.

• Featured slots: Twiends is a unique and simple way to promote yourself. You purchase or obtain seeds by following other users. And other tweeps can obtain some of those seeds in return for following you.

This is very effective at building your followers but my experience says that you always have to follow-back (and quickly) and have a strong flow of good tweets to get those followers engaged immediately.

The unfollow rate from these methods can be as high as 50%.
Don’t ever buy followers! It’s worse than buying friends and they are not real Twitter users. If a follower is not real then you are only fooling yourself and your ego.

And it’s strictly against Twitter policy and they will suspend you. You have been warned!
10. Say thank you!
Just as in real life, people like good manners. When you are followed, send a thank you message. But here’s the key. Do not use a thank you message like this:

Thx for the follow. Now like my Facebook page…

It’s actually rude, boring and typical. And absolutely no-one will like your Facebook page. I use a tool to send a selection of thank you messages that I have created. These thank you messages are examples of my tweets. Here is one:

There are no dead ends when you are going around in circles. I hope you will enjoy my tweets! John

I’m not asking them to do anything other than be amused by the message. And the message is relevant to the content I tweet.
11.  Don’t give up
If you’ve read this far, you’re probably serious about getting a significant Twitter following. It takes dedication and time but with a bit of help, things will go faster.

You will find that as you gain thousands of followers, people will follow you just in the hope that you will RT them or give them a #FF or #SO.

Then you will even see some B-List celebrities following you and things just multiply.

I’ll leave you with a tweet that sums it up: When all is said and done, there is usually more to say and do

Until the next time,

John Mitchell

Big Salary Or Permanent Job- What Should You Prefer ?

What is the right choice then- big salary of permanent job? There are pros and cons to both the situations. At the end of the day, it all boils down to your priorities. Let's take a closer look at both the options.
Very often, people with high salaries were the ones who were fired. Those with comparatively lower salaries were retained. The economy is still unpredictable, with many parts of Europe still reeling in the aftermath of the global recession.
It is a conundrum which many have faced before. A big salary does seem lucrative to start with. However, many times, it comes with the risk of job security. The recent global recession of 2008 is example enough of that. in a bid to cut costs and stay afloat, many companies resorted to job cuts.

Big salary versus permanent job

  1. If it is just a job for you- Sometimes, you have to do a job for the sake of survival. For example, if a person wants to be a musician but does not have the financial support from his family, he would have to do a job in order to sustain himself, until he finds a break. In such a case, a job isn't a career option for him. It is just a job. Thus, a big salary would be more preferable for him than a permanent job. With a big salary, even if he gets fired, he would have plenty with him in order to sustain himself and go after his passion.

  2. If fast growth is what you are after- Big salaries can almost guarantee fast growth, financially, as well as professionally. If you are looking for fast growth in your career, you have to take the risk of a big salary. If you are lucky enough, the risk will pay off. If you are not, well, it's just a part of the game.

  3. If you have long term plans- Many people have long term plans. They want to have a nice house of their own, give their sons or daughters the best of education etc. If you have long term plans too, it is wise to settle for a more permanent job than risk going for high salary. With a relatively permanent job, you are sure of a certain amount coming to your bank account every month. With that surety, you can plan your financials better with your long term plans in mind.

  4. Whether a brand is more important for you- Sometimes, people dream of working with a certain organization. For example, for some techies, working with Google is a dream come true. However, when working with prestigious brands like Google, you may have to compromise on the financial bit in these uncertain economic times. Again, it boils down to your priorities. If a brand is more important to you than financials, you may have to bid adieu to high salaries.

The recent trend

According to a recent survey conducted by a staffing firm, most employees are looking for companies which offer better job security.

According to the survey, more than 60% of employees are giving preference to a more secure future than a higher salary. This is in contrast to the trend about 5 years ago when salary and benefits ranked as one of the top criteria for candidates when looking for jobs.

10 Ideas To Improve Your English

English language is the official business language around the world. If you are dreaming about a great career in any field, being proficient in written and spoken English is important. In the globalized world of today, you will be dealing with a lot of international clients, traveling places etc.

If you have the requisite English language skills, you will find adjusting to new environments and new job responsibilities a lot easier. If you are not too confident about your English language skills, here are top 10 tips that will help you gain more confidence:
  1. Read good English books- Reading always helps. You may have read this almost everywhere, but it deserves another mention. Pick up books that interest y In the beginning, you will be slow while reading the books. However, as you keep adding books to your library, you will start improving.
  2. Learn two new words everyday- Make it a point to learn two new words every day. Read newspapers and magazines and encircle the words you don’t know the meaning of. Look up their meanings in the dictionary and try using them in a sentence.

  3. Converse in English with your friends and family- You may be shy speaking in English in front of others. But you can always make mistakes in front of your family members and friends. Converse with them in English as much as you can. Slowly, you will start building confidence.

  4. Listen to English language CDs or Mp3s- There are English language MP3s available in the market. Buy some of these and listen to them. They will help you get the right pronunciation of words.

  5. Try and sing along English songs- You may not like listening to English songs. However, listening to English songs is a fun way to improve your English language skills. As you listen to them, try to decipher the lyrics and sing along.

  6. Make mistakes- Do not be afraid to make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. In fact, you actually learn from your mistakes. When you fumble while speaking, or commit a grammatical error while writing, there will be people who will help you out. And you always tend to remember mistakes that happen in front of people.

  7. Think in English- Another innovative way to improve your English language skills. When you are thinking something, try to think in English. Phrase sentences yourself, and if possible, write them down too.

  8. Translate your newspaper- Most people who are not comfortable with English, read newspapers in their native language. Try and translate one article everyday in English. Once you translate, get it checked by somebody. Mark your mistakes and try not to repeat them the next time.

  9. Don’t go after fancy words- English is not about using big words. In fact, unless you are an author, big words are not going to get you anywhere. Try not to fret too much about difficult words. Focus on the basics.

  10. Chat in English- We all have some sort of a Messenger on our phone, the most popular being Whatsapp or New Snapchat. When you are chatting with your friend over the phone or online, try to do that in English. It helps. All the best.

How The Creative Process Works

The release of the film “The Secret” in 2006 caused worldwide interest in the Law of Attraction. It states that everything one wants or needs may be accomplished by believing that one will receive that outcome, by repeatedly thinking about it, and maintaining positive emotional states to “attract” it.

Simplistically everything comes to us by the most elemental law of physics – LIKES  ATTRACTS! This means that when you put an idea out into the universe, people, places and things come into your life to fulfill that idea.

When we think, we actually cause things to happen.
This is still not the full recipe for the manifestation and achievement of results. Thinking is very important but only part of the process.

In my opinion life results are far too complex to explain in a short article like this, but I want to make a point regarding the achievement of results. After viewing the “The Secret” many people thought that the days of hard work and problems on earth came to an end at last!

It is almost as if you are going to reach the golden pot at the end of the rainbow. Unfortunately many folks were extremely disappointed. They did put in all the right thinking and felt emotionally very positive about the outcome, however the results were poor.

After a while most of them decided this whole story promised by the law of attraction is a lot of hogwash. So what went wrong? Are some people just lucky or chosen? In reality it has nothing to do with your personality, your religious beliefs, being a “good” or a “bad” person or anything else. Understanding The Creative Process, Dr Robert Anthony in his book “Beyond Positive Thinking” explains the process very clearly.

To flow with life, we want to create from the model of Being-Doing-Having.
Being →  Doing →  Having. You must be very clear about this.
Most people think the equation is Having → Being → Doing.
They first want the money and resources, then “being” (feel good) and then they will start doing.

Unfortunately this is not the way in which you will produce results. Let us take a simple example. If you don’t have a network of friends and associates but would like to develop one, you should first be a person whom others want to have as a friend and be associated with. If you are now composed and likable you can take action to approach new friends and associates.

Your action will most likely yield results in you having new friends and associates. The universe flows from being into doing into having. Being is an inner experience – it comes from within you. You can allow outer circumstances to determine your state of Being – your level of happiness or satisfaction – but you run the very real risk of those outer circumstances controlling your life and how you feel about yourself.

“I’ll be happy when (e.g. your event) I have enough money”. Then you will never be happy.
Suppose you think a new job will change your life. Eventually you get a new job and pretty soon it’s the same old stuff you have to deal with.  A new mate, a new home, having a baby, or making more money will not change your life. Eventually you get all those things, and still you are not happy.

The Starting Point of Success, Your unlimited power lies in your ability to control your thoughts. A confused mind works in the direction of sickness, poverty, lack and limitation, rather than in the direction of abundance, health and success.

Your intention sets the universe in motion.
The universe flows in the direction of your intention, and so it is important to be clear on your exact intention (what you want to achieve) in any situation. If you are absolutely clear as to your intent, your subconscious success mechanism will support you in getting there.

Waiting Is a Trap
Why are we waiting to be healthy, to be happy, to be alive, to be wealthy, to start a new business, to fall in love, to communicate, to clear up the relationships we are in? Waiting is a trap.

We wait for interest rates to go down, for the economy to get better, for a person to change, for the holiday to pass before starting a diet. There will always be a reason to wait. Stay safe.
